Alumni Involvement

Greek Alumni Make a Positive Difference:

Why are some sororities and fraternities more consistently successful than others?

Is it because they have a good-looking chapter house, a cool basketball court, great grades, members who are polished young women and men, a role in leading the campus, fun philanthropy projects, or great food?

Although some of these can be viewed as appealing traits, the key difference all thriving chapters have in common is the help of engaged alumni.

Many of the aforementioned traits are the result of a sorority or fraternity’s successful attainment of a set of goals. Goals that are consistent with the organization’s core values, vision, and mission.

The recipe for success for any Greek chapter often originates from the organization’s founders and evolves over time through thoughtful improvements crafted by the collaborative efforts of engaged alumni and the active members of the chapter who all have the sorority or fraternity’s best interests at heart.

The Greek Alumni Organization (GAO) reaches out to Greek alumni who are interested and willing to re-engage with their chapter on the WSU campus. These alumni will help guide, mentor, coach, and hold accountable the undergraduates who thrive when given solid alumni support.

The GAO will assist you in reconnecting with your chapter.  We will also provide a template for Alumni Advisory Boards, which details the roles Board members can play.  One of the essential keys to a successful Greek Chapter Alumni Advisory Board is to have at least three (preferably five to seven) active alumni who assume the various Board responsibilities so that the work is shared equally and the time invested by the alumni is efficiently used.

All chapters at Washington State University can benefit from added alumni involvement and all Greek alumni are welcome to participate. You will find the experience to be rewarding and your efforts will be very much appreciated.
