COL John L. Poppe, WSU '81 and '86, in 2003 at Camp Virginia, Kuwait. COL Poppe was nominated for Chief of the US Army Veterinary Corps in the fall of 2011. If confirmed by the Senate, he will be the first WSU College of Veterinary Medicine graduate to hold the position and be promoted to Brigadier General. |

"My husband James Gerber is a WSU Alumni, he was in the NROTC program and graduated in 2005. He and a few other of his classmates are currently deployed in Afghanistan and they just happened to end up in the same location for a short period of time. They all got together and took this picture. I thought that I would pass it along to show that the Marine pride and WSU pride are true and proud even across the world." --Amy Gerber
