Greek Alumni Organization
Washington State University Mission Statement
The Greek Alumni Organization is committed to advocating for and mentoring Greek undergraduates while supporting the Greek Community at Washington State University. The GAO will act to hold both undergraduates and the university to a higher standard while working to facilitate a positive, sustainable and successful Greek Community that we can all be proud of. The GAO will work with the WSU Alumni Association to maintain both professional relationships and positive support with alumni, students, College Hill Association and key senior staff at the university. The GAO will collaborate and coordinate with the Alumni Association and the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life to facilitate informational meetings and collectively pursue improvement initiatives that are in the best interest of all parties.
Welcome all Greek Alumni and Greek Undergraduates!
The Greek Alumni Organization encourages you to get and/or stay involved with the WSU Greek Community and your individual chapters. Whether you are a Greek Alumnus wanting to reconnect with your chapter and other WSU Greek Alumni, or a student seeking out Alumni from your chapter, the GAO is here to facilitate those ties!
For information on how to get involved with our GAO, please contact Jay See '96, at ballard1990@yahoo.com.

Core Values
Values Integration - The CFSL is dedicated to working with students to use the knowledge for the betterment of themselves and society. Focusing on values integration helps teach individuals what they can offer society. When students use their values (what they believe is most important) to guide their behavior they become more effective, more productive, and create the life they want to live.
Citizenship and Diversity - The CFSL encourages and enhances civic engagement, cultural competency and a commitment to diversity.
Intellectual Development - The CFSL helps facilitate the acquisition of knowledge through experience and application. The CFSL is committed to emphasizing the importance of lifelong learning.
Positive Relationships - The CFSL helps foster a positive environment where collaboration, involvement, and participation are paramount, an environment of belonging and acceptance where communication and teamwork are emphasized.
Leadership Development - The CFSL strives to strengthen involvement in addressing complex issues, act upon opportunities that fulfill responsibilities of leadership, followership, and teamwork, and to encourage students to contribute to the broader community, state, nation, and world. The CFSL is dedicated to helping students lead with compassion, creativity, flexibility, and steadfastness to meet the challenges of the new century.
Vision Statement
Our vision is that fraternities and sororities will be the most trusted educational organizations on the campus in the development of men and women’s values, leadership, relationship, and citizenship. In so doing, the fraternity and sorority community enhances our university for all students regardless of affiliations; and achieves a higher level of unity, loyalty and respect among all fraternities and sororities.
The Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life will be a premier student affairs department that fosters an inclusive environment committed to academic excellence, community engagement, developmentally appropriate opportunities that challenge and support students to become responsible, resourceful, and reflective citizens while utilizing university and local community partnerships.
Reports and Updates
Greek Alumni Make a Positive Difference:
Why are some sororities and fraternities more consistently successful than others?
Is it because they have a good-looking chapter house, a cool basketball court, supermodel looks, 4.0 grades, members who are polished young women and men, impressive athletic ability, a role in leading the campus, fun philanthropy projects, nice cars, or great food?
Although some of these can be viewed as appealing traits, the key difference all thriving chapters have in common is the help of engaged alumni.
Many of the aforementioned traits are the result of a sorority or fraternity’s successful attainment of a set of goals. Goals that are consistent with the organization’s core values, vision, and mission statement.
The recipe for success for any Greek chapter often originates from the organization’s founders and evolves over time through thoughtful improvements crafted by the collaborative efforts of engaged alumni and the active members of the chapter who all have the sorority or fraternity’s best interests at heart.
In the coming months the Greek Alumni Organization (GAO) will reach out to Greek alumni who are interested and willing to re-engage with their chapter on the WSU campus. These alumni will help guide, mentor, coach, and hold accountable the undergraduates who thrive when given solid alumni support.
The GAO – in partnership with WSU’s Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life – will assist you in reconnecting with your chapter. We will also provide a template for Alumni Advisory Boards which details the roles Board members can play. One of the essential keys to a successful Greek Chapter Alumni Advisory Board is to have at least three (preferably five to seven) active alumni who assume the various Board responsibilities so that the work is shared equally and the time invested by the alumni is efficiently used.
All chapters at Washington State University can benefit from added alumni involvement and all Greek alumni are welcome to participate. You will find the experience to be rewarding and your efforts will be very much appreciated.
Stay tuned for more information regarding ways you can make a positive difference in your chapter’s current and future success.
