Our early mascot, "Squirt"Who (or what) was WSU's first mascot, and what was his/her name? 

The Cougar was officially adopted as our mascot in 1919.  Before that time, the mascot was a terrier named "Squirt" (and here's his picture from the 1907 yearbook.)
