February 9, 2007 Question: Who led WSC's rushing attack with 105 yards in the Cougars 14 - 0, 1916 Rose Bowl victory over Brown University? Answer to January 26, 2007 Question: Who (or what) was WSU's first mascot, and what was his/her name?  The Cougar was officially adopted as our mascot in 1919.  Before that time, the mascot was a terrier named "Squirt" (and here's his picture from the 1907 yearbook.)
